# DASH Glossary

This glossary defines key terms, concepts, and acronyms used throughout DASH and its documentation:

## General Terms

* **BOM (Bill of Materials)**: List of parts and materials needed to make a product.
* **ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)**: system to manage business processes like finance, inventory, and HR.
* **License Plate**: Unique ID or barcode for a group of items (e.g., pallet, box).
* **Inventory Location**: Specific place where stock is stored (e.g., warehouse, aisle, shelf).
* **Material Handler (MH)**: DASH submodule for managing inventory movement, replenishment, and auditing.
* **Pallet**: Platform used to store and transport goods, tracked by license plates in DASH.
* **Perpetual QOH (Quantity on Hand)**: System’s real-time expected stock count.
* **Replenishment**: Process of restocking inventory in pick locations or storage areas.
* **Tracking QOH**: Actual stock counted or scanned, used to verify system QOH.
* **UPC (Universal Product Code)**: Barcode used to identify products.
* **Usage**: Amount of material or item consumed over time.
* **WO (Work Order)**: Document detailing production tasks.
* **WOH (Weeks On Hand)**: Inventory metric that calculates how many weeks the current stock will last based on historical usage patterns.

## Part Types

* **FG (Finished Goods)**: Completed products ready for sale to customers.
* **RM (Raw Materials)**: Basic materials used in manufacturing processes.
* **WIP (Work-in-Process)**: Parts or products in intermediate stages of manufacturing.

## Production Terms

* **Batch Ticket**: Production order document that tracks manufacturing from start to finish.
* **Bottling Job**: Specific production run for filling containers with finished products.
* **CPH (Cartons Per Hour)**: Productivity metric measuring picking or packing speed.
* **Dispersion**: Manufacturing process where raw materials are mixed and processed.
* **MRP (Materials Requirements Planning)**: System for managing component breakdown for manufactured parts.
* **QC (Quality Control)**: Process of testing and verifying product quality before release.
* **Tinting**: Process of adding color to base products to create specific shades.

## Shipping Terms

* **ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice)**: Electronic notification sent to customers detailing shipment contents and delivery information.
* **BOL (Bill of Lading)**: Legal document that details the contents, quantities, and terms of freight shipments.
* **Dropship**: Shipping method where products are sent directly from manufacturer to customer, bypassing warehouse.
* **FTL (Full Truckload)**: Freight shipping method for large shipments that fill an entire truck.
* **Kuebix**: Transportation management system used for shipment coordination and tracking.
* **LTL (Less than Truckload)**: Freight shipping method for smaller shipments that share truck space.
* **SPD (Small Package Delivery)**: Parcel shipments, not truckloads (i.e. USPS, FedEx, UPS, etc).
* **PPD/NC (Prepaid/No Charge)**: Freight is prepaid by seller with no charge to buyer.
* **PPD/ADD (Prepaid/ Add)**: Freight is prepaid by seller but added to invoice.
* **COLLECT**: Buyer pays freight charges upon delivery.
* **DAP (Deliver at place)**: Seller delivers goods to specified location.
* **THIRD PARTY**: Freight arranged and paid by someone other than buyer or seller.

## Regulatory & Compliance Terms

* **CAS (Chemical Abstract Service)**: Unique chemical identifiers that ensure accurate identification and regulatory compliance across all documentation and reporting systems.
* **GTIN-14 (Global Trade Item Number)**: International product identification standard for trade items.
* **MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)**: Detailed document with information about chemical properties.
* **MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price)**: Recommended selling price set by the manufacturer.
* **Prop 65 (Proposition 65)**: California law requiring warnings for products containing chemicals known to cause cancer or reproductive harm.
* **REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals)**: Compliance information required for EU regulatory compliance when importing materials above threshold quantities
* **Tariff Code**: Classification code used for international shipping and customs purposes.

## Financial Terms

* **AP (Accounts Payable)**: Money owed by the company to suppliers and vendors for goods or services received.
* **AR (Accounts Receivable)**: Money owed to the company by customers for goods or services delivered.
* **CAR (Capital Asset Request)**: Tracking number for capital expenditure projects and asset acquisitions.
* **GL (General Ledger)**: Accounting system that tracks all financial transactions.
* **JE (Journal Entry)**: Accounting record that documents financial transactions in the general ledger.
* **P/L (Profit/Loss)**: Financial statement showing company revenues, expenses, and net income over a specific period.
