# Work Orders Module Overview

## Overview

The **Work Orders** module is the production hub for scheduling, running, and tracking internal manufacturing across departments (e.g., blister pack, labels, kits, dispersion). It is one of DASH’s core manufacturing systems and can be tailored per company so that all in-house production flows through it.

Schedulers, production leads (labels, kits, blister, etc.), dispersion/batch planners, and operations managers use work orders (WO) to line up work, track execution, and reconcile time/variance before and after quality control (QC).

## What You Can Do

* **Schedule production** across departments and locations, add notes/instructions, and move jobs between lanes as priorities change.
* **Perform inventory conversions** (e.g., convert a 144-pack into 24-packs) while confirming Bill of Material materials during execution.
* **Log and resolve rework/holds** to release finished goods once issues are fixed.
* **Manage work order records** view/edit runtime, quantities, and resolve time discrepancies in coordination with timekeeping.
* **Run production reports** (Daily work orders, End-of-Shift, Cost of Production, Usage/Sub-Variance, Label Production Variance) to spot variances and downtime by reason (e.g., cleanup, adjustments). These feed daily reviews.

## Next Steps

* Start with the [Manage Work Orders Submodule](/work-orders/manage-work-orders) to create, view, or edit work orders and monitor **Active**, **Pending QC**, and **Completed** queues.
* Use [Work Order Reports Submodule](/work-orders/work-order-reports) to generate production summaries (daily or by date range) and investigate variances/downtime.
